Welcome to Mad About Development
We are beyond excited to have launched Mad About Development, a new training initiative and wing of our professional theatre company, located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Mad About Development offers full time, professional training for the Musical Theatre industry, with our first intake of students training with us in 2025. We are delighted to provide government recognised qualifications in partnership with Empowerdance Pty Ltd RTO 40397 to provide high quality professional training.
In 2026, we introduced our School Based stream. In 2027 we are thrilled to announce the expansion of our programs, offering school based and tertiary students the opportunity to select from 6 courses, all offered over a part time or full time training option. So whatever your interests, time availability and budget, there is an option here for you at Mad About Development.
Students of our courses will have the opportunity to learn from Industry Professionals through workshops, masterclasses and / or industry placements. Students in our performance stream programs have more than 3 performance opportunities throughout their courses, with which to put their training into practice!

What happens next?
You will be notified shortly after we receive your application advising if you are successful and move on to the following rounds. If you are required to submit a video, you will have 1 week to submit your self tape from the request date. Please find below relevant details about what to prepare for your self tape should you be asked to continue.

If you are successful in our TERTIARY FULL TIME MUSICAL THEATRE application, you will move on to the self tape round.
Self tape will include:
a) 1 song,
b) 1 monologue
c) 30sec-1min dance
If you are successful in our TERTIARY PART TIME DANCE application, you will move on to the self tape round.
Self tape will include:
a) 2 minutes of dance. Please use this time to lay down a variety of styles to showcase your strengths, style and personality.
If you are successful in our PART TIME OR SCHOOL BASED MUSICAL THEATRE application, you will move on to the skills video round.
Skills video will include:
a) 2 minute video showing us your skills! This could be a song, a dance, a monologue, or a combination! Please do not exceed 2 minutes.
If you are successful in our TEACHING STREAMS application, you will move on to the skills video round.
Self tape will include:
a) 1 minute of dance. Please use this time to lay down a variety of styles to showcase your strengths, style and personality. If you have industry experience as a teacher and have permission to do so, you may all include a brief clip of you teaching to display relevant skills in this field.
